Elkhart - Meal Processing and Packaging- June

Description

Volunteers work together to package meals in individual trays to help food insecure neighbors in our community. Other responsibilities may include preparing food items for packaging, sorting or chopping produce, cleaning after the volunteer shift, and other tasks as needed.

Role

You will work alongside other volunteers under the supervision of the Shift Lead to support meal packaging and distribution efforts. Volunteers work together in an assembly-line environment to portion food into trays, seal and label completed meals, stack finished products and prepare them for storage or distribution. Depending on operational needs, volunteers may also assist with sorting frozen meals and securing meals in a bag for distribution.

Purpose

The nutritious meals made by volunteers will feed food insecure children and neighbors in our community supported by our Backpack Program.
